Rosebud

The fishing- smack Rosebud, of Dublin, when making for the harbour about 11 A.M. on the 7th March, was driven on the south wall close to the bar. It was blowing a moderate gale from S.W., and the vessel commenced to bump heavily and for some time she was in a very dangerous position. Signals were made, and the Life-boat Rose Beddington was immedi- ately launched to her assistance. In the meantime the tide was ebbing, and just when the Life-boat went alongside the craft heeled over and slipped into deep water. The Life-boat remained by her until it was ascertained that she was not making water, and then returned ashore. The captain of the smack stated that the accident was due to a mishap to his rudder, and expressed his thanks for the prompt manner in which the Life-boat went to his help..
