Arendal
At 10 A.M. on the 26th March the brig Arendal of Tonsburg, bound to Sunderland with a cargo of props, was making for the harbour, when she came to grief. There was a heavy sea run- ning at the time and the vessel struck the bar and remained fast. The Life- boat George Wooftndin was promptly launched and proceeded alongside and rescued the crew of eight hands, land- ing them safely at the North Dock.
Later in the day the Life-boat again put to sea, and with two tugs, suc- ceeded in salving the vessel and her cargo..
