Northern Star and Lord Londesborough
About 8 o'clock on the morning of the 6th January the wind increased and the weather became very bad, which caused considerable anxiety for the safety of some of the cobles which had left for the fishing grounds earlier in the morning. Most of the boats managed to reach home safely, but soon after 9 A.M. it was seen that two of them, the Northern Star and Lord Londesliorough, whilst making for the harbour had to encounter very heavy seas. As it was feared the small crafts would be swamped, the Life-boat Geonje and Jane Walker was launched, and stood by them until they were safe in harbour..
