About 7.30 P.M. on the 23rd January, signals of distress were seen on the yawl Gannett, of AVexford, which had run aground the previous day, and the Life-boat James Stevens No. 15 was sent out in response. As the tide was nearly low, she was unable to get alongside, but managed to reach the vessel's bowsprit, and the four men of the crew climbed into the boat by that means. It ap- peared that they had no food or fire on board, and the weather looked threaten- ing ; they desired to be landed, and this was done. The weather at the time of the service was moderate..
