At 8.45 A.M. on the 17th January, the Coxswain of the Life-boat received information that one of the small cobles which were off line fishing was in danger of being swamped, about three quarters of a mile off Sharpness and was unable to pull in against the heavy westerly gale. Another coble was launched to go to her assistance, but the gale increased in violence and the boat returned.
