During a dense fog in the Channel on the 27th May, the passenger steamer Ladt/ Hudson Kinahan, of Dublin, ran ashore half a mile to the eastward of the " Holt : Tail," on the, South Devon, coast.
Information reached Hope Cove at 9.15 P.M., and the Life-boat Alexandra pi'oceeded to the vessel with all despatch. Twenty-six of the passengers i were taken into the Life-boat and landed.
In the meantime steps were taken to refloat the steamer, and when this was successfully accomplished those who wished were taken back to the vessel which, in a damaged condition, pro- ceeded to Plymouth. The Life-boat then returned to her station..
