DUNGENESS.—It having been reported by the coastguard watchman, on the.

night of the 12th January, that a vessel was showing signals of distress, the Lifeboat B.A.O.B. was launched, and found the three-masted s.s. Elaine, of Liverpool, ashore off No. 2 Battery, having sunk after collision with another steamer. The master stated that he would try to stop the leak when the tide fell, and as there was a heavy sea the Life-boat remained by until low water. The steamer was bound from Faversham for Liverpool with a cargo of cement..
