PALLING, NORFOLK.—A message by telephone was received on the 14th August, reporting that a large barque was aground on the Hasborough Sand. The Life-boat Hearts of Oak was launched at 8.15 a.m., and found the barque Helena Mena, of London, bound from Hull for South Africa, stranded on the middle part of the sand. The proffered services of the Lifeboat men were at once accepted by the master, and with the aid of the crew of a yawl and two steam-tugs, the vessel was got afloat at 6 p.m. The Life-boat accompanied her to Yarmouth Eoads, and arrived back at her station at 2.30 p.m.
