WHITBURN.—The Life-boat William and Charles was launched at 11.30 p.m.

on the 1st June and landed a man from the coble Guiding Star. Whilst he was out attending to his crab-pots, a heavy sea rose and he was in considerable peril; the surf was breaking so heavily that it would have been impossible for him to have landed in the coble.the vessel and try to get her off. With some difficulty she was got afloat, and the Life-boat then returned to her station, arriving at 2.55 p.m..
