NEWBIGGIN-BY-THE-SEA, NORTHUMBERLAND.

—The steam-trawler John Smart, of Shields, on her return journey from fishing, stranded in Cambois Bay in thick weather early on the morning of the 8th February. In response to her signals of distress the Life-boat Robert and Susan was launched at 3.30, and on arriving at the vessel found that heavy seas were breaking over her. She had a crew of eight men, who were taken into the Lifeboat and landed at Newbiggin at 6.45 A.M. The Life-boat was damaged in effecting the rescue, being thrown by broken sea apparently on the submerged portion of the vessel's deck..
