The S.S. Manhattan

ROKER.—The Life-boat William Hedley put off at 12.20 P.M. on the 21st January to the assistance of the s.s. Manhattan, of London, bound from Hull for SunderJand with oil, which had stranded between Eoker Pier and the North Pier in a strong N.E. wind and a high sea. The master and three other men were brought ashore by the Life-boat, observation was kept on the vessel, the remainder of the crew having stayed on board, and at 7 P.M. the boat again went to her, taking the captain back to the ship with a pilot..
