Fishing Boats and Gigs Robert Henry, Children's friend and Boy Willie

ST. IVES, CORNWALL.—Early on the morning of the 21st January several fishing-boats left the harbour, and whilst they were in the bay the wind suddenly increased to a very heavy gale from the N.N.E., with a tremendous sea on the ridge. At about 8 A.M. it was seen thatone of the boats, the W. T., would incur great danger in crossing the ridge, and the Life-boat Exeter was therefore promptly launched and proceeded to her assistance, but unfortunately the boat upset before she could be reached, and two of her crew were drowned, the third man being washed ashore on Porthminster beach. The Life-boat then proceeded to the assistance of the gigs Robert Henry and Children's friend, took out of the former the crew of, fire men and from the latter six men, and landed them at the Extension Pier. A fresh crew then manned the Life-boat and went to the help of the gig Boy Willie, which had a crew of six hands on board, and accompanied the boat safely into the harbour..
