RAMSGATE,—A message was received telephone from the Goodwin Light-vessel on the morning of the 24th July, stating that a vessel was ashore on the North Goodwin Sands. At 10 o'clock the Lifeboat Bradford, in tow of the steam-tug John Batey, left the harbour and reached the vessel, the barque Hans Thiis Kit or, laden with pit-props. The vessel's tow-rope was attached to the tug, and for about an hour efforts were made to tow her afloat, the crew of the Life-boat and the ship's crew during that time jettisoning the deck load in order to lighten her.

Ultimately she was got off the sand, and was taken to an anchorage in the Downs.

She was bound for Newport, and had crew of nine men..
