On the 19th September signals of distress having been fired by the Skerries lighthouse, the Life-boat Thomas Fielden was launched at 3.30 A.M. in a moderate sea, a strong breeze, and hazy weather, and found that the signals had been made because the principal lightkeeper was very ill, and it was desired to send him ashore.
He was therefore taken into the Life-boat and landed at Holyhead..
