Jan. 6.—Three men put off in a boat and saved a boy who had fallen overboard from a boat off Wexford, Ireland.—Reward, 15s.

Jan. 9.—Four men. put off in a coble and saved the crew of five men from the boat of the steamer Brothach, of Newcastle-on-Tyne, which had sunk after striking Newton Rocks, off the coast of Northumberland, during a strong breeze and a rough sea.—Reward, 11.

Jan. 9.—Seven men put off in a boat and saved one of the crew of the gig PlaymiAe, of llfracombe, which had been capsized off Beacon Point, Ilfracombe, during a strong gale from the W.N.W.—Reward, 31. 10s.

Jan. 10.—Voted 21. 5s. to three men for saving five persona from the boat of the schooner Emma, of Liverpool, which had been in collision with another vessel during a strong S. breeze and a very heavy sea, off Hastings, on the 26th October.

Also 15s. to three men, for rescuing two of the crew of the coble Economy, of Sunderland, which had been capsized off that port during a strong W. breeze and squally weather on the 31st October.

Jan. 11.—Six men rescued four men from the fishing-boat Mary, of Kilkeel, co. Down, which capsized about three miles B.S.E. of Leestone, during a moderate gale from the B.S.B. and a heavy sea.—Reward, 31.

Ten shillings was also granted to the master and owner of the capsized boat, who, after regaining her, saw one of his crew some distance away and unable to reach the boat, being much exhausted. He immediately swam to the man, took him to the boat, and held him on until both were rescued.

Jan. 11.—Ten men put off in a boat from Ballyconnel, co. Sligo, and saved a fishing-boat with a crew of six men on board, which was in danger during a heavy gale from the S.— reward, 51.

Feb. 3.—The master and six of the crew of the steam-tug Red Ease rescued nine persons on the occasion of the collision of the s.s.

Nereid with the barque Killochan, off Dungeness, during a strong N.W. breeze and a rough sea.—Reward, 11. 101.

Feb. 8.—Five men put off twice in a boat and rescued the crew of five men of the s.s.

Wallace, of Glasgow, which had stranded in Port Ellen Bay, Islay, Argyllshire, during a strong gale from the N.N.W. and a very heavy sea.—Reward 51.

Feb. 10.—Five men put off in a coastguard galley with the view of rescuing the crew of the Elizabeth Alice, of Barrow-in-Furness, which had stranded off Dungeness during a moderate S.S.E. gale and a heavy sea. The boat, however, having been struck by two heavy seas, was filled and rendered unmanageable, and drifted ashore without being able to render any assistance to the vessel's crew. — Reward, 10Z.

Feb. 11.—Five men rescued the crew of fourteen men from a boat of the wrecked barque Leonidas, of South Shields, near the Goodwin Sands, during a moderate gale and a rough sea.—Reward, 31. 15s.

Feb. 12.—A man put off in a boat which was towing astern of his vessel, and rescued a man from a boat which had been capsized off Lepe, in the Solent, during a fresh N.N.W. breeze.—Reward, 5s.

Feb. 14.—Voted the Silver Medal of the Institution, accompanied by a copy of the vote inscribed on vellum, to Sergeant THOMAS SUTCLIFFE, R.I.C., for descending a cliff at great risk and rescuing twelve of the crew and the master's wife from the barque Etta, of Belfast, which had stranded in Credau Bay (co. Waterford) on the 21st December last.

Also 21. to another man who descended the cliff and assisted the officer to effect the rescue.

Also lOOi., with an expression of sympathy, to the widow and orphans of GEORGE HAMLIN, who lost his life by being washed out of a coastguard galley while assisting in an attempt to rescue the crew of the schooner Elizabeth Alice, of Cardiff, which had stranded at Dungenesa during a moderate S. gale and a very heavy sea on the 10th February.

Feb. 23.—Five men put off in a boat and rescued two soldiers who were drifting out to sea in a boat, having broken one of the tholes and lost an oar, off Walton-on-the-Naze, during a strong N.E. breeze and a heavy sea. The men were very much exhausted when rescued, having been out in the boat during the whole of the preceding night.—Reward, 31. 15s.

March 14.—Voted the Silver Medal of the Institution, accompanied by a copy of the vote inscribed on vellum, to Mr. JOHN DINNEEN, chief officer of the s.s. Albatross, of London, and 11. 10s. each to four of the crew, for putting off in a boat from the vessel in a heavy sea and rescuing four of the crew from the rigging of the Isabella Hall, of Barrow, which had stranded on the Tongue Sand on the 5th November last.

Also a binocular glass to Captain J. B. RANDALL, master of the Albatross, in recognition of his valuable co-operation on the occasion.

Also the thanks of the Institution inscribed on vellum to Mr. W. OOWIE and Mr. SIDNEY SMITH, and 10s. each to six fishermen, for putting off in two boats and saving five of the crew of the fishing-boat Alexander and Helen, of Portknockie, which had sunk off Cluny Harbour, Banffshire, during a N.N.E. gale and a very heavy sea, on the 8th February. 11. each was also awarded to two fishermen who jumped from the pier with ropes round their waists and rescued another of the crew of the fishingboat.

March 20.—Six fishermen of Ferryden saved, by means of life-lines, life-belts, etc., supplied by the Institution, the crew of three men of the ketch Anna Maria, of Peterhead, which had been driven ashore at Scurdyness in a strong E.N.E. gale and a very heavy sea.—Reward 31.

March 21.—Three persons saved, by means of a boat worked across the harbour by lines from the piers, the crew of three men of the sloop Chester, of Conway, which sunk at Morecambe, Lancashire, during a strong gale from the N.E. and a very heavy sea.—Reward, 11. 10s.

April 1.—Five men put off in a boat and rescued one man from a fishing-coble which had been capsized off Beadnell, Northumberland, during a strong N.W. breeze and a moderate sea.—Reward, SI. 15s.

April 4.—Four men saved the crew of four men from the hooker Mary, of Galway, which foundered off that port during a strong N.

breeze, a moderate sea, and squally weather.— Reward, 11.

April 11.—Voted 11. 2s. 6d. to the master and crew of the ketch Agnes Louisa of Padstow, for saving sixteen men from two boats belonging to the steamer Cxsarea, of Cardiff, which was lost off Hartland Point, Devonshire, in a dense fog, on the 7th May, 1888.

April 20.—Three men put off in two boats and rescued three persons whose boat had been capsized in Holyhead new harbour by a sudden squall.—Reward, 11. 15s.

April 20.—Two men put off in a boat and rescued four men from a pleasure-boat, which had been upset off Montrose in a fresh W.S.W. wind.—Reward, 11.

April 30.—Five men rescued ten men from a boat of the pilot schooner Rosa, which had been capsized off Holy-wood, co. Down, during a strong B. breeze, with squalls and a rough sea.—Reward, 31.

May 6.—Two men saved a man who was in danger in a fishing-curragh in Aranmore Roads during a thick fog.—Reward, 10«.

A reward of 7s. Gd. was also granted to three men who put off in a boat from the shore, with the view of effecting the rescue of the man.

May 9.—Voted 31. to four men for putting off in a boat and rescuing the crew of five men from the fishing-boat Helen Dunnett, which had been capsized off Stroma, Caithness-shire, in a strong S.W. breeze and a heavy sea on the 25th December, 1888. A reward of 11 Ids. was granted to six men who rendered good service with lines on the shore, and 11. was given to the owner of the boat used by the salvors, in recognition of his services in assisting with the lines, and in consideration of damage done to his boat while effecting the rescue.

June 10.—Two men put off in a boat from Hayling, Hants, and saved six persons whose boat had been disabled about five miles from shore, during a strong N. wind and a rough sea.

The sum of 21. was also granted to the salvors as compensation for the loss of some of their boat's sails, which were blown away while effecting the rescue.

July 2.—Three men and a woman put off in a boat and saved a man from a boat which had been capsized off Cape Clear, co. Cork, during a strong N.E. breeze.—Reward, 21. 10s.

July 11.—Also the thanks of the Institution, inscribed on vellum, to Mr. J. SMART, Chief Officer of the ship Argomene, of Liverpool, 51.

to Mr. R. Cox, Second Officer, who was injured in rendering the service, and 21. to four seamen, for putting off in a boat from the vessel and saving the lives of three persons whose boat had been upset by a squall, to the eastward of Spike Island, Queenstown Harbour, on the 9th June.

July 13.—Two men saved two persons from a boat in danger off Innishfree, co. Donegal, during a strong N.E. breeze.—Reward, 11. 10s.

July 20.—Five men saved nine persons from the boat Why Not, of St. Anne's, which had stranded on the Horse Bank, off Southport.

July 26.—Seven men put off in two boats and rescued four persons from a boat which had been capsized off Aberdovey during squally weather.—Reward, 31. 10s.

July 30.—Four men saved five persons from the sailing-boat Harmony, of Portrush, which had sunk during a squall in the Bay of the Bann, co. Londonderry.—Reward, 21.

Aug. 5.—The coxswain of the Walmer Lifeboat rescued five persons from a boat which had sunk in St. Margaret's Bay, Kent. — Reward, 15s.

Aug. 16.—A man saved a person whose boat had capsized and sunk off Dunwich, Suffolk, during squally weather.—Reward, 15s.

Aug. 20.—Five men put off in a boat and saved the crew of five men of the schooner Slue Jacket, of Aberystwith, which had stranded off Newquay, Cardiganshire, during a fresh N.N.W. gale and a heavy sea.—Reward, 31.15s.

Aug. 20.—Three pilots put off in a boat and saved two men from the boat Hilda, of Exmouth, which had capsized off Exmouth.— —Reward, 4Z. 10s.

Aug. 22.—Four men rescued a man from a canoe which was capsized in Llandudno Bay, during a strong W. breeze and a rough sea.— Reward, 31. 5s.

Aug. 25.—A man put off in a boat and saved two men whose boat had been capsized off Cheek Point, co. Waterford, during fine weather and a moderate wind.—Reward, 11.

Sept. 14.—Three fishermen put off in a boat from Southwold, Suffolk, and saved the boat Tricksey, of Lowestoft, which was in a damaged condition, with three men on board, during a strong wind and a heavy sea.—Reward, 31.

Sept. 16.—Three men rescued three men whose boat had been capsized off Cork Beg Island, in Cork Harbour, during a strong breeze and squally weather.—Reward, 15«.

Sept. 29.—Three men saved a boat containing four of the crew and three passengers of the s.s. Zephyr, of Cardiff, which had foundered about seven miles from the Scarweather light vessel during a whole gale from the N.N.W. and a very heavy sea.—Reward, 11.10s.

Oct. 7.—Eight men, put off in a boat and rescued two men from the smack Mary Ann, of Southampton, which was totally wrecked at Innish Barra, co. Galway, during a gale of wind from the N.W. and a very heavy sea.— Reward, 41. 5s.

Oct. 7.—Five men put off in three boats from the shore and saved three mea from a boat belonging to the fishing-smack Gambler, of Stranraer, which boat had been capsized about two hundred yards from the West Pier at that port during a whole gale from the N.W. and a very heavy sea.—Reward, 21. 10s.

Oct. 10.—Voted the thanks of the Institution inscribed on vellum to Mr. E. H. PAGE and Mr. F. C. SPRAT for saving the lives of five persons from a boat belonging to the schooner yacht Corinne, of Cowes, which boat had been capsized in Scratchell's Bay, Isle of Wight, during calm weather on the 7th Sept.

Oct. 16.—Two men saved, at very great risk, six of seven men from a boat belonging to the wrecked s.s. Malta, which was capsized by an enormous wave while returning ashore with property salved from the -wreck during a strong wind from the N.W., squally weather, and a heavy sea.—Reward, 51.

Oct. 30.—-Thirteen men put off in two fishing cobles and saved the crew of three men from the ketch Martin, of Berwick, which had stranded at Craster, Northumberland, during a fresh S. by E. breeze, hazy weather, and a rough sea.—Reward, 61. 10s.

Nov. 14.—Voted the thanks of the Institution, inscribed on vellum, to Mr. EDMUND ROBERTS and Mr. WILLIAM ROBERTS, of St.

Just, Cornwall, in recognition of their valuable services in assisting to land the passengers on the occasion of the wreck of the s.s. Malta, of Glasgow, near Cape Cornwall, on the 15th October.
