Civil Service Life-Boat Fund
AT the annual meeting of the Committee of this fund, held on the 17th of January, and presided o-rei by Mr. "W. H. HAINES, Chief Clerk of the House of Lords, Mr. CHARLES DIBDIN, the Honorary Secretary, reported that the number of the subscribers had reached nearly ten thousand, and that during the past year the fund had contributed 1000L to the Royal NATIONAL LIFE-BOAT INSTITUTION towards the endowment of the new Life-boat, Civil Service No. 6, built for Douglas, in the Isle of Man, besides the sum of 42£. to recoup the Institution the amount expended by it during 1889, in rewarding the crews of the Civil Service boats for services. The Committee are now appealing for a further sum of 8QOL, to complete the purchase and endowment of the Douglas Life-boat, and also for funds to build a seventh boat. The Civil Service Fund is entirely supported by Civil Servants, and the usual subscription is half-a-crown.
