The S.S. Malta
—The s.s. Malta, of Glasgow, 2,017 tons, with passengers and a general cargo from Liverpool for Italy, went ashore at Wheal Castle, about four miles from Senaea, during a dense fog on the evening of the 15th October. Intelligence of the casualty having reached Sennen Cove, the crew of the Life-boat Densil and Maria OnAow, stationed there, were at once summoned.
The Boat was launched at 8.30, and proceeded to the assistance of the vessel.
On reaching her it was found that the passengers had been landed, and, at the master's request, the Life-boat remained by the shipi At 6 o'clock on the folio wing morning an attempt was made to tow the vessel off; but the efforts failed, and she ultimately settled down and became a total wreck.
