While the fishing dandy Linnet, of Lowestoft, was riding in the bay on the 28th September, a strong gale from the N.N.W. sprung up accompanied by a heavy sea, causing the vessel to drift slowly towards the shore. At midnight a flare-light was shown from her, she being then in broken water, the sea making a complete breach over her. The Life-boat Queensbury proceeded to her assistance, reached her just as she struck the rocky beach, and rescued six men who were on board.
