Linnet

While the fishing dandy Linnet, of Lowestoft, was riding in the bay on the 28th September, a strong gale from the N.N.W. sprung up accompanied by a heavy sea, causing the vessel to drift slowly towards the shore. At midnight a flare-light was shown from her, she being then in broken water, the sea making a complete breach over her. The Life-boat Queensbury proceeded to her assistance, reached her just as she struck the rocky beach, and rescued six men who were on board. The vessel immediatelycommenced to break up, and soon became a total wreck..
