A vessel's light having been observed in a dangerous position near the breakers in the S.E. part of the bay near PenrhynPoint during a whole gale from the N.W.

and a very heavy sea on the morning of the 26th January, and the vessel appearing to be riding heavily, the Life-boat Thomas ffielden put off at 4 o'clock and went to her assistance; she was then burningflares as signals of distress. The crew of five men were taken into the Life-boat and landed at Holyhead at 6 o'clock..
