Earl of Beaconsfield

HORNSEA.—On the morning of Tuesday, the 8th November, during a moderate E. gale and a heavy sea, rockets were fired in quick succession by the fourmasted ship Earl of Beaconsfield, of London, bound from Calcutta for Hull with a cargo of wheat and linseed, which had stranded about two miles S. of Aldbrough, nine miles from Hornsea, during a fog on the previous Sunday morning. The Lifeboat Ellen and Margaret of Settle was launched at about 6.10, and reached the stranded vessel at about 9.45, after more than three hours' hard rowing, took off twenty-seven men and safely landed them at Aldbrough.
