BROADSTAIRS.—In reply to signal guns from the light-ship, the Samuel Morrison Collins Life-boat was launched at 8.55 P.M.

on the 30th June. When about half way to the Goodwin Sands, she was taken in tow by the steam-tug Victor, of London, and, on reaching the Sands, found the Spanish steamer Guatemala, bound from Antwerp for San Francisco with railway iron, ashore there. At the master's request, the Life-boat remained by the vessel in case her help should be needed, but at six o'clock on the following morning, the steamer floated, and proceeded west. The Life-boat was then towed back to her station by the tug Victor, arriving there at 7.30..
