The Screw Flat Albion

On the 27th December, the screw-flat Albion, of Hull, stranded on the " Irishman's Spit" during a strong breeze from the N.N.W., the heavy seas making a clean breach over her. She hoisted signals of distress, and at 9.30 A.M. the Christopher Brown Life-boat went to her assistance. On reaching the vessel it was found that she had just been taken in tow by the steamer Bee; the Life-boat was accordingly towed astern. In about ten minutes the Albion commenced to fill, and her crew of three men were then taken into the Life-boat where they remained until Friars was reached, where the vessel was beached just as she was sinking. ..
