R. and M. J. Charnley
At 6.45 A.M. on the 23rd February last, during a moderate S.W. wind, a vessel was observed ashore on the Goodwin Sands, and signal-guns were fired by the Gull light-vessel. The Bradford Lifeboat at once went out in tow of the harbour steam-tug Aid, and found .thevessel, was the three-masted schooner E. and M. J. Charnley, of Lancaster, bound from Silloth for Buraham with railway materials, and having a crew of five men.
The crews of the Life-boat and of some | small boats which had put off to the rescue, rendered assistance, and at 9.45 the vessel floated, was taken in tow by | the steam-tug, and arrived in the harbour at 12.20 P.M..
