Excelsior and the Pilgrim

The Mincing Lane was also launched at 9.15 A.M. on the 2nd of May, to the assistance of two large decked fishingboats, the Excelsior and the Pilgrim, which were in danger during a heavy sea and a dense fog. The Life-boat pulled out about a mile and a half blowing a foghorn, and the fishermen, on hearing it, sailed towards the boat, which then preceded them over the bar, considerable risk being incurred in crossing it, and the harbour was safely reached at noon..
