SIDMOUTH, DEVONSHIRE.—At about 8 P.M., on the 29th July, the schooner Hope, of Ryde, bound from Middlesborough i» Sidmouth with a cargo of iron and coal, which was lying less than a mile from the beach with two anchors down, parted her port cable. A fresh wind from the S.W, was blowing at the time and the weather was gloomy. The master did not consider it prudent to depend on the remaining cable, and he therefore showed signals of distress, in response to which the Simington Life-boat went to his assistance and brought ashore the crew of four men. On the following morning, the wind baring shifted, and the sea being much smoother, the men returned to their vessel and recovered the anchor.
