Burthon

At 9 A.M. on the 14th November, the same Life-boat proceeded, in fow of a steam-tug, to the assistance of the Norwegian barque Burthon, which had gone on the Holme Sand. On reaching the vessel she was found to be breaking-up.

The Life-boat boarded her, and, with much difficulty, succeeded in saving the crew, consisting of eight men, and brought them safely to Lowestoft, in a very exhausted state. The wind was blowing a gale from the E.N.E., and there was a very heavy sea. Yery soon after the men were rescued, the vessel became a total wreck..
