The schooner Centenary, of Liverpool, bound from Coleraine to Glenarm, anchored in Skerries Boads at 8 A.M. on Saturday, the 30th September, during a very strong gale of wind. At 5.30 on the following evening she showed signals of distress as she was driving very near to the rocks. The wind was then blowing a strong gale from the S.S.W. with heavy squalls. The John Whitaker Life-boat was launched with all despatch, and brought the master, his wife, and the crew of two men, safely ashore.
