Emerald Isle

HOWTH, Co. DUBLIN. — On the 29th March, at about 5.15 P.M., during a fresh W. gale and a heavy sea, the coxswain of the Life-boat being on watch at the Coastguard Station, observed a small vessel drag her anchors and go ashore on Ireland's Eye Island. She then hoisted a signal of distress, the sea making clean breaches over her. The Clara, Baker Life-boat was at once launched, and proceeded to her assistance. The Lifeboatmen laid out an anchor and tried to heave her off. but failed to do so, and two of the crew were then taken into the Life-boat and brought ashore.
