Resolutions Passed at the Annual Meeting for 1882

THE RIGHT HON. THE LORD MAYOR OF LONDON IN THE CHAIR.

1.—Moved by the CHAIRMAN :— 1.—That the following Noblemen and Gentlemen be the Officers of the Institution for the current year:— (Vide next page for this list.) 2.—Moved by EDWARD BIRKBECK, Esq., M.P., Deputy Chairman.

2.—That the Report now read be adopted, printed, and circulated.

'3.—Moved by GEORGE PALMER, Jun., Esq., Master of the Mercers' Company.

Seconded by ION T. HAMILTON, Esq., M.P.

3.—That this Meeting acknow- ledges with gratitude the unpre- cedented success which accom- panied the Services of the Life-boats during the past year, when they rescued from various Shipwrecks nine hundred and sixty-six lives—in addition to one hundred and fifty- five lives saved by shore-boats re- warded by the Institution, making a total of one thousand one hundred and twenty-one lives saved. The Meeting is deeply sensible of the responsibility that rests on the Com- mittee in the management of so great and national an Institution; and it therefore appeals with renewed assurance for increased sympathy and support.

4.—That this Meeting tenders its best thanks to THOMAS CHAPMAN, Esq., F.E.S., V.P., Chairman; to the Committee of Management, and to the Officers, for their continued valuable services in the manage- ment of the important affairs of the NATIONAL LIFE-BOAT INSTITUTION.

Also to the Honorary Local Com- mittees and Secretaries of the several Branches, for their earnest and active co-operation with the Parent Institu- tion.

5.—Moved by Vice-Adml. AUGUSTUS PHILLIMORE, late Admiral Superintendent of Naval Ee- serves.

5.—That this Meeting testifies afresh to the brave and persevering spirit that continues to distinguish the Coxswains and Crews of the Life-boats, which was never more conspicuously shown than during the fearful storms of the past year.

6.—That the best thanks of this Meeting be given to the Eight Hon.

The LORD MAYOR, for so ably pre- siding over this fifty-eighth Annual Meeting of the ROYAL NATIONAL LIFE-BOAT INSTITUTION, and for the continued kind interest he takes in its welfare.
