Folkestone
The brigantine Folkestone, of Folkestone, was seen to be making for Hartlepool atabout 8 P.M. on the 28th October during a hurricane from the E.N.E. As she showed signals of distress, the Charles Ingleby Life-boat put off to her assistance and finding that all her sails had been blown away, and that she was unmanageable, her crew of seven men were taken on board the Life-boat and were safely landed. The vessel, which was bound from Folkestone to Sunderland, in ballast, afterwards drifted ashore near Middleton.
