Forager

, KENT. — The ketch Forager, of Portsmouth, from Seaham to Chichester, with coal, with a crew of four men, stranded near Kingsgate Castle on the 22nd February. A Coastguard boat proceeded to her assistance, and endeavoured to get her afloat, but the tide fell before this could be accomplished. On the following morning the wind blew strongly from the E.N.E., and the sea was heavy, and it was therefore considered advisable to take the Life-boat Thomas Chapman out to the vessel, the lives of the crew being in danger. The Life-boat proceeded to her at about 6.30 A.M., and in three hours' time she was got afloat and, with the assistance of a steam-tug, was taken to Ramsgate Harbour, the Life-boat accompanying her to assist in steering, and to be in readiness in case her services were required to save life, as the vessel was leaking badly.
