General Caulfield

COURTMACSHERRY, Co. CORK.—On the 12th January, at about 11 A.M., information was received that a large barque was embayed. On arriving at the Harbour point she grounded on the bar in about 18 feet of water. The wind was blowing from S.W. at the time, and a heavy sea was running. The Life-boat City of Dublin was quickly manned and launched and brought ashore the crew of 18 men from the vessel, which proved to be the barque General Caulfield, of Newcastle, bound fromNew York to Dunkirk, with wheat. She became a total wreck..
