Elsmore and Lady Lilford

SKERRIES, Co. DUBLIN. — On the 7th January, the Laura Plait Life-boat was launched in reply to signals of distress, during a strong S.E. gale and heavy sea, and saved the crew of 3 men from the schooner Ehmore, of Runcorn, and 6 men from the brig Lady Lilford, of Ardrossan.Both yessels were on a lee shore, and had exhibited signals of distress; the schooner had lost her boom and gaff, while her bulwarks had been washed away by the heavy seas ; the brig's crew had to be hauled into the Life-boat with the aid of a Life-bnoy, the sea running too high to allow the Boat to go alongside; their vessel afterwards drove ashore to the northward of the Life-boat station, and became a wreck..
