Resolutions Passed at the Annual Meeting for 1879
His GRACE THE DUKE OF NORTHUMBERLAND, LORD PRIVY SEAL, PRESIDENT OF THE INSTITUTION, IN THE CHAIR.
1.—Moved by the CHAIRMAN :— 1.—That the following Noblemen and Gentlemen be the Officers of the Institution for the current year:—(Vide next page for this list.) 2.—Moved by the Bight Hon. STEPHEN CAVE, M.P., V.P.
Seconded by the Most Noble the MARQUIS of HEADFORT.
2.—That the report now read be adopted, printed, and circulated.
3.—Moved by the Eight Hon. the EARL of COURTOWN.
Seconded by Rev. E. HEWLETT, M.A., Hon. Sec. of the Manchester Branch of the Institution.
3.—That this Meeting—viewing the continued success which characterises the organisation and administration of the NATIONAL LIFE-BOAT INSTITUTION, and particularly regarding the gratifying fact that not a single life was lost from its Life-boats during the past year—pledges itself to make renewed efforts to per- petuate and increase the operations of an Institution which, from its first esta- blishment, has, under Providence, con- tributed to the saving of 26,051 lives from shipwreck.
4.—Moved by Captain the Hon. FRANCIS MAUDE, E.N.

4.—That this Meeting offers its best thanks to THOMAS CHAPMAN, Esq., F.B.S., V.P., Chairman; to the Committee of Management, and to the Officers of the Institution, for their able and untiring exertions in administering its extensive affairs.
Also "to the Honorary Local Committees | and Secretaries of the several Branches of the Institution, for their continued earnest and active co-operation.
5.—Moved by Admiral of the Fleet Sir GEORGE E. SARTORIUS, K.C.B.

5.—That this Meeting regards with much satisfaction the brave exertions of the Coxswains and Crews of the Life- boats, who are ever willing to man them in the stormiest weather and the darkest nights.
