On the 31st December, at 3 P.M., the Life-boat Christopher Brown was launched during a S.W. gale, and proceeded to the smack Crane, of Beau- inariSj which vessel was at anchor in a dangerous position with a signal of dis- tress flying. The Life-boat's crew having boarded the vessel, got her under weigh, and, having sailed her to a place of safety, left her secure for the night at 6 P.M..
