After dark on the 1st of November, the Life-boat George Gay, in answer to signals of distress observed from Penarth, proceeded to the roadstead, where she found two vessels in collision; a strong breeze from the S.W. was blowing at the time, and one of the vessels, the Jaribyrd, a Norwegian barque,' being in imminent danger of sinking, the Master requested the Life-boat to remain by her, which she did, until day- light, when a steamer towed her into Bute dock. The other vessel, the barque Magna Charta, of Halifax, N.S., had not suffered so much. The Life-boat's crew were in a greatly exhausted con- dition when they landed..
