On the llth Nov. a signal-light was seen off the harbour, and on the Life-boat proceeding to the spot, she fonnd the fishing lugger Northumberland, of Flam- borough, had gone ashore at Wells East Birt, and that the crew of 10 men had succeeded in reaching the beach there.

They were then taken into the Life-boat and brought ap to WeHs. A heavy northerly gale was blowing, with rain and hail, and the sea was very high at the time..
