Cygnet, of Workington

On the after- noon of the 4th January, a small schooner, called the Cygnet, of Workington, with a j cargo of slates, was making this harbour j when she struck on the North Bank, and j afterwards drifted behind the North Pier. | It was blowing a fresh gale from the • W.S.W. at the time. When the perilous j position of the vessel was observed, the ' Life-boat Henry Nixson No. 1 was taken i to the assistance of the crew of 3 men, all I of whom she landed in safety.
