On the 2nd October the Life-boat Mary, on this station, was taken off by a volunteer crew to assist four fishing-cobles, which, while making for the harbour, were in much danger on account of the very heavy sea running round the pier-head. They were all es- corted in by the Life-boat in safety. One coble that had previously come in had shipped a very heavy sea, and was nearly lost. The Life-boat remained off ready to render assistance to a Penzance boat that was drifting fast towards the shore, but the wind freshened, and she was able to beat off..
