St Fergus
The Life-boat Cotton Sheppard, stationed here, was also launched the same day to the aid of the schooner St. Fergus, of Aberystwith, which had shown signals of distress on account of her being in very shallow water and in danger of striking the ground.
The master requested that the Life-boat would remain by the vessel until the tide began to flow, and she did so. Fortu- nately as the flood tide made, the gale suddenly- moderated, and the schooner rode it out in safety..
