Echo, of Lowestoft

The Yarmouth large Life-boat Mark Lane was taken afloat on the 8th March, as the fishing-lugger Echo, of Lowestoft, was seen to be in great danger, she having become unmanageable during a heavy gale from S.W. by S. Driving down Yar- mouth Eoads, she had come into collision with a laden schooner, and it was thought she was in a sinking state. When the Life-boat reached her she was found to be abandoned, and an endeavour was made to bring her to an anchor; this was ultimately successful, and the next morn- ing she was brought into harbour..
