Viscount Macduff

The schooner Viscount Macduff, of Macduff, N.B., while entering the harbour of Tynemouth during the night of the 26th December, was struck by a heavy sea, which washed overboard the captain and one of the crew, who were at the wheel at the time. She almost immediately afterwards grounded on the rocks off the Spanish Battery, where the steamship Stanley was lost a few years since. The Tynemouth No. 2 life-boat was quickly launched through a tremendous sea, and rescued the remaining 4 men of the crew, who were in a sad state of terror and exhaustion.
