Resolutions Passed at the Annual Meeting for 1871

1.—Moved by the CHAIRMAN :— 1.—That the following Noblemen and Gentlemen be the Officers of the ROYAL NATIONAL LIFE-BOAT INSTITUTION for the current year:—(vide last page for this list.) 2.—Moved by the Eight Hon. the EARL of DEVON, P.O., D.C.L., President of the Devon Central Branch of the Institution.

2.—That the Report now read be adopted, printed, and circulated.
3.—Moved by the Eight Hon. the EARL of COURTOWN, Patron of the Courtown Branch of the Institution.
Seconded by Admiral of the Fleet, SIR GEORGE SARTORIOUS, K.C.B.
3.—That this Meeting, in view of the great work which the NATIONAL LIFE- BOAT INSTITUTION continues to carry out on the Coasts of the United Kingdom, laments to find that, on account of the Funds so generously and munificently raised in this country to relieve the victims of the terrible war which raged for so many months in France, its Income has been much diminished during the past year.
Considering, however, that the Institution has now a noble Life-Saving Fleet of 228 boats under its management, the Meeting feels it imperative to call on every friend of the Shipwrecked Sailor to spare no effort to enlist continued support and sympathy on behalf of this great and national Institution.

4.—That the thanks of this Meeting be given to the Board of Trade, to the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, and to the Officers and men of her Majesty's Coastguard service, for their continued valuable assistance to the Society.

5.—That this Meeting tenders its cordial thanks to THOMAS BARING, Esq., M.P., F.E.S., V.P., the Chairman; to THOMAS CHAPMAN, Esq., F.E.S., V.P., the Deputy- Chairman ; to the Committee of Management, and to the Officers of the Institution, for the skilful and able manner with which they continue to administer its important affairs.
Also to the honorary Local Committees of the several Branches of the Institution, and to our coast boatmen and fishermen, for their zealous and valuable co-operation.
