Mary Jane, of Padstow

On the 22nd No- vember, the schooner Mary Jane, of Pad- stow, was stranded in a strong wind and heavy sea near Clay Castle, on the Irish coast. The vessel had only started from Youghal that morning, but in consequence of stress of weather she had to be anchored.

Her anchors, however, dragged, and she soon after went aground. The William Beckett of Leeds life-boat went out and rescued the vessel's crew of 3 men, landing them in safety..
