Kate, of Ipswich

On the 17th January, during a strong breeze and foggy weather, a vessel was seen anchored in a very dangerous position to windward of the harbour, and as she appeared to be slowly driving on the rocks, the Manchester Branch life-boat, William Woodcock, was launched in a very high sea, and reached her after passing throngh much broken water. The captain asked for assistance, and some of the crew of the life-boat went on board and suc- ceeded in bringing the vessel, with her crew of 4 men, safely into the harbour. She proved to be the ketch Kate, of Ipswich..
