Resolutions Passed at the Annual Meeting for 1868

THE RIGHT HON. H. T. L. CORRY, M.P., First Lord of the Admiralty, in the Chair.

1.—Moved by the Chairman :— 1.—That the following Noblemen and Gentlemen be the Officers of the ROYAL NATIONAL LIFE-BOAT INSTITOTION for the current year:—(vide last page for this list.) 2.—Moved by S. R. GRAVES, Esq., M.P.

for Liverpool.

Seconded by Capt. J. MACGREGOB, M.A.

2.—That the Report now read be adopted, printed, and circulated.

3.—Moved by Capt. F. ARKOW, Deputy Master of the Trinity House.

Seconded by Rear Admiral Sir WILLIAM H. HALL, K.C.B., F.R.S.

3.'—That this Meeting contemplates with the utmost satisfaction the great and noble work accomplished last year by the Lifeboats of the Institution in rescuing 783 lives from various shipwrecks on our coasts.

And considering the national character of a Society which renders such signal services to the cause of humanity, this Meeting farther undertakes to assist, by every possible means, the NATIONAL LIFE-BOAT Is- STITCTION in maintaining and extending its philanthropic work.

4.—Moved by GEORGE LYALL, Esq., Director of the Bank of England.

R.N., F.R.S., Hydrographer of the Admiralty.

4.—That the thanks of this Meeting be given to the Board of Trade for the important and cordial aid they continue to afford to the Institution. Also to the Commodore Controller-General, the Deputy Controller-General, and the Officers and men of Her Majesty's Coastguard service, for their continued valuable assistance to the Society.

5.—Moved by Sir FRANCIS CROSSLEY, Bart., M.P. for the North-west Riding of Yorkshire.

5.—That this Meeting tenders its cordial thanks to THOMAS BARING, Esq., M.P., F.R.S., V.P., the Chairman; to THOMAS CHAPMAN, Esq., F.R.S., V.P., the Deputy- Chairman; to the Committee of Management, and to the Officers of the Institution, for the admirable manner with which they continue to administer its important affairs.

Also to the honorary Local Committees of the several Branches of the Institution and to our coast boatmen and fishermen for their zealous and valuable co-operation.
