On the morning of the 6th January, during a terri- fic gale of wind from the S.E., the Ponte- fract and Goole life-boat went off through a very heavy sea, in reply to signals of dis- tress, and rescued the crew of 6 men from the brig Emanuel Boucher, of Whitby, which had struck on the Black Midden Rocks.
