Elizabeth Ann, of Lyme Regis

On the 14th No-vember, 1860, the smack Elizabeth Ann, of Lyme Regis, culm laden, was driven ashore at the back of the Northern harbour wall, the Wind blowing a hard gale' from the S.W. at the time, and the night being very dark. The Lyme Regis life-boat was quickly branched, and proceeded to the aid of her crew, three in number, who were taken off, and landed in safety, although with some difficulty and risk, owing to her position on the rocks and the intense darkness of the night. The behaviour of the life-boat was much praised on the occasion.
