On the 30th December, the large American ship Britannia went ashore at Talybout, four miles from Bar- mouth, the wind blowing a hard gale from S.W. at the time. The Barmouth life-boat proceeded to her, and took off 14 men through a heavy sea, which repeatedly broke over and filled her.
