Resolutions Passed at the Annual Meeting for 1860

1.—Moved by THOMAS CHAPMAN, Esq., F.R.S., Chairman of Lloyd's Register of British and Foreign Shipping Society, Seconded by ALEXANDER BOETEFEUR, Esq. ; ; 1.—That the Report now read be adopted and circulated.

2.—Moved by R. B. FORBES, Esq., Boston, United States, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Massachusetts Humane Society, Seconded by Captain SIR EDWARD G.L. PERROTT, Bart., V.P.

2.—That this Meeting has heard with extreme satisfaction that the NATIONAL LIFEBOAT INSTITUTION has at present one hundred and orn Life-boats under its management, being the largest life-saving fleet the world has yet seen, and worthy of the philanthropy and commercial greatness of this country. Considering the benefit which the cause of humanity has derived, and does derive almost daily at this season of the year from the active services of its Life-boats on the coasts of the British Isles; and also the advantage which the good cause has received on the shores .of some foreign countries and of our colonies, by the use of life-boats on the Society's plan, this meeting is of opinion that every exertion should be used to enable the NATIONAL LIFE-BOAT INSTITUTION to maintain its present important position, and to extend its sphere of useful operations, 3.—Moved by Vice-Admiral Sir T. HERBERT, K.C.B., V.P., Seconded by Rear - Admiral GORDON, Deputy Master of the Trinity House.

3.—That the thanks of this Meeting be tendered to the Lords of the Committee of Privy Council for Trade, and to the Marine Department of the Board of Trade, for the important and cordial aid afforded by them to the NATIONAL LIFE-BOAT INSTITUTION.

Also to the Commodore Comptroller- General, the Deputy-Comptroller-General, and the Officers and men of Her Majesty's Coastguard service, for their continued valuable assistance to the Society.

4.—Moved by Admiral SIR GEORGE F. SEYMOUR, K.C.B., late Commander-in-Chief of H.M.'s Fleet in the West Indies and North America, Seconded by Captain the Hon. F. MAUDE, R.N.

4.—That this Meeting tenders its cordial thanks to THOMAS BARING, Esq., M.P., V.P., the Chairman; to THOMAS CHAPMAN, Esq., F.R.S., V.P., the Deputy-Chairman; and to the other Members of the Committee of Management, for the care and attention with which they continue to administer the important affairs of the Institution.

Also to the honorary Local Committees of the several. Branches of the Institution for their zealous co-operation with the Central Committee in promoting the efficiency of the Life-boat establishments intrusted to their superintendence and management.

5.—Moved by THOMAS BARING, Esq., M.P., Chairman of Lloyd's, Seconded by Vice-Admiral RYDER BURTON, K.H.

That the best acknowledgments of this Meeting be given to Rear-Admiral the Right Hon. EARL of SHREWSBURY AND TALBOT, C.B., V.P., for his able conduct in the Chair, and for the kind interest which he continues to take in the welfare of the ROYAL NATIONAL LIFE-BOAT INSTITUTION.
